About Rockbridge County Criminal History

Rockbridge County criminal records are divided among local and state offices. The Sheriff and regional jail hold different records at the same Greenhouse Road address, while two court clerks work from separate courthouse suites in Lexington. Virginia State Police maintains the Central Criminal Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry is a separate public system. This private resource organizes those official routes so readers can identify the right custodian, search portal, counter, or telephone number before making a request.

Why We Built This Site

Virginia has no single public database that supplies every Rockbridge record. A Sheriff report, regional-jail booking entry, General District Court docket, Circuit Court order, and CCRE history answer different questions. Even the courthouse requires a choice between the clerk in Suite 200 and the Circuit clerk in Suite 101. This site was built to make those boundaries clear and to collect the official contact details, request steps, portal limits, and access rules needed to reach the office that created the record.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site, not part of a Virginia court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:

  • We cannot issue a certified court file, CCRE history, police report, or booking record
  • We cannot submit a VFOIA request, expungement petition, sealing form, or other filing for a reader
  • We cannot conduct an official background check or obtain a record on anyone's behalf
  • We cannot interpret a pending charge, warrant, disposition, or relief rule as legal advice
  • We cannot promise that an office has not changed its hours, fee, address, or procedure

Only the originating office, such as the Sheriff, court clerk, regional jail, or Virginia State Police, can provide or certify its official record.

Search Partners

Third-party providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Those providers control their own results, prices, subscriptions, and data practices. A paid signup reached through a search box may generate a referral fee that supports operation of this free resource. Rockbridge County Criminal History does not control the provider's charges or guarantee the accuracy or completeness of its results.
